Wilmington, MA, June 11, 2013—XENON Corporation, the world leader in pulsed light technology, today announced the first shipment of its SINTERON™ 5000 system designed for high-speed sintering of silver inks in printed electronics production lines. "This marks another milestone in the commercialization of printed electronics, as sintering systems are moving from the labs into manufacturing applications," said Lou Panico, CEO of XENON. According to XENON, the customer will use the system in the printing of RFID products in a high-volume, roll-to-roll manufacturing environment. The customer's name was not revealed due to non-disclosure agreements. The SINTERON™ 5000, introduced late last year, is XENON's first system for PE sintering at roll-to-roll speeds. The system uses XENON's patented pulsed light technology to deliver high-energy bursts of pulsed light for sintering silver nano-inks on the production line at up to 100 feet per minute. Panico noted that the system was purchased with two pulsed lamps initially, and can be easily scaled in the field to support as many as 10 pulsed lamps to achieve maximum sintering speeds. In related news, XENON also announced that it recently shipped its 70th SINTERON™ system for R&D use. "Our customers have been aggressively pursuing PE product development the last few years, as evidenced by the many R&D systems we have shipped," said Panico, "and we expect to see more PE applications move into production in the coming months."
